​​The head of the UN General Assembly called the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions an important platform and highly appreciated its level
 
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Chairman of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid. The head of the General Assembly visited Central Asia and Kazakhstan for the first time.
 
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev informed the guest that the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions would be held on September 13-15. The President of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to the UN for the consistent support of this forum.
 
Abdullah Shahid called the forum of the heads of world and traditional religions an important platform and highly appreciated the level of the congress. According to him, in many countries of the world, misunderstanding causes people to be discriminated because of their beliefs. Therefore, the Chairman of the UN General Assembly expressed confidence that the promotion of peace by spiritual leaders around the world will be the key message of the upcoming event.
 
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan also noted the importance of the guest's visit in terms of further expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN.
 
“The 77th session of the UN General Assembly is a unique opportunity for leaders to come together in a constructive atmosphere in order to propose the most demanded by all mankind solutions. We appreciate your contribution to the successful holding of this important event,” said the head of our state.
 
In turn, the Chairman of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being implemented under the leadership of the leader of Kazakhstan and the results of the recent referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the country.
 
According to Abdullah Shahid, the ongoing reforms will bring the protection of human rights and the development of civil society in Kazakhstan to a new level.
