What language do you want to learn? (A2)
Vanessa: How many languages do you speak, Jay?
Jay: Just English. I studied Spanish in high school so I know a little bit of it. What about you?
Vanessa: I speak English and Spanish, and I studied French in middle school and high school.
Jay: Oh, wow! Was French hard for you to learn?
Vanessa: Not really. It’s
similar to Spanish.
Jay: Yeah, that makes sense. Spanish and English are similar, too.
Vanessa: True. They are more similar than English and Chinese, for
example!
Jay: Yes, much more similar! Actually, I want to learn Chinese.
Vanessa: Really? Why?
Jay: Well, I want to be a businessman, and I think Chinese will be very useful in the future. It is becoming more
widespread.
Vanessa: Yes, it is. But Chinese is very difficult to learn, right?
Jay: Yeah. It’s very hard. Especially reading, writing, and
pronunciation.
Vanessa: How are you studying?
Jay: I have a textbook and I watch some Chinese TV shows on the
Internet.
Vanessa: That’s so cool! When did you start learning Chinese?
Jay: About three months ago. I’m still a beginner. But I can say a few
sentences, so I’m happy about that.
Vanessa: That’s awesome! And I think it’s a good idea to study Chinese. When you
apply for jobs, the companies will be interested in your
application.
Jay: I hope so. What language do you want to learn?
Vanessa: I want to learn Italian. I think it’s so beautiful.
Jay: I agree! You should study Italian.
Vanessa: Actually, you are
inspiring me. I think I will start learning it now!
Jay: Great!
