2022-12-27 09:49:12 Small Updates on Natural Science Electives Shortage

Before offering any course, SSH requested concrete numbers of students from SEDS. SEDS has finished analyzing the data from the spreadsheet that SEDS students had received and has shared it with SSH.

MOE also had a meeting with SSH administration last week, SSH has responded as follows: "We are aware of the seat deficit in many courses required for major and core curriculum classes. We will do everything to resolve this issue before the start of the semester. However, we expect the discussion of these problems with the respectful departments to happen no earlier than January 4 (after the faculty returns from Christmas break)."

We really hope that cap increases will be happening at the start of the semester.

This does not yet mean that problem is solved, we are just keeping you updated about the progress. Students are always welcome to email the concerns to chairs, school offices, and vice deans in working hours.

Official transcripts will be available for ordering only from Dec 26. November's email from the Registrar indicates that the ordering will be closed until Dec 23 inclusively. Ашу / Түсініктеме

Please be considerate when emailing and visiting SMG's School Office and Dean about GEOL 101. MOE and SMG Student Council have already attained capacity increase to 110 and asked to include SSH&SEDS to the priority. We have even received complaints from SMG and its student council that students were rude when asking repeated cap increase.

We do understand that this is due to natural science elective shortage, and working hard to get SSH offer more courses. SEDS is also currently analyzing the data of how many SEDS students need electives, and will share with SSH soon. But don't be shy to email your concerns to the faculty, just be respectful Ашу / Түсініктеме

2022-12-13 09:23:38 Dear Students, please take a look at the policy on Grade Appeal from Academic Policies and Procedures:

"57. Grade appeals. All students have the right to appeal any grade that they believe is in error. The error must be based on one of the following criteria:
1) error in calculation;
2) error in application of the class grade policy as presented in the Course
Syllabus;
3) incorrect entry of the grade into the database;
4) incomplete marking of an assessment.

58. Appeal process for exam grade.(We skipped it, see the document below)

59. Appeal of final course grade.
1) The student must first consult with the course instructor within 3 (three) working days of the date the grades are posted on the MyRegistrar system. The date to be used for calculating the time for an appeal of a final course grade is the date that grades are released to students, as published in the Academic Calendar.
2) The course instructor must respond to the student within the next 3 (three) working days. The time may be extended by the Vice Dean if the course instructor is shown to have been unavailable during the period following the student’s receipt of
their final grade.
3) If the student still believes that the grade is incorrect or the course instructor has not replied within 3 (three) working days, he or she may appeal to the Dean or Vice Dean of the relevant School within 3 (three) calendar days after.
4) The Dean or Vice Dean shall consult with the course instructor before making any decision. If the Dean or Vice Dean decides to grant an appeal, they will communicate the new grade to the Office directly using the Change of Grade form.
5) The decision of the Dean or Vice Dean shall be final."

"This is to inform you that the registration is rescheduled for today, at 5 p.m (December 09, Friday).

2022-12-08 16:20:09 Some Priority and Schedule Updates

-PHIL 210's Lecture is now added to the course schedule and is on Monday 6-7:15pm. Lecture part is essential for registration.

-CHEM 212L priorities: Chemistry Dep is informed about the wrong priorities. Lb1 is only for Chemistry majors, while in Lb2 & Lb3 is a 1st priority for UG BioSc. We hope this will be resolved by the registration.

-PHYS 161 labs do not last 50min but much longer, the errors were fixed.

Tip: if you are making a schedules, download the requirements/schedules each time to be sure to see the latest schedule version.
