During the training issues such like employment discrimination, occupational
segregation (discrimination in access to certain professions or positions), wage
discrimination, gender statistics, and gender identity were discussed.
Participants asked questions and discussed topics such as the gender division of
labor, what is the situation with gender occupational segregation in Kazakhstan,
“why women are paid less than men?”, and “what measures can be used to prevent
the gender pay gap?”.
We plan to conduct another training on gender issues at Women’s Teacher
Training University, with the support of the MediaNet International Centre for
Journalism and the Finnish Embassy in Kazakhstan. Please check the
